BCT Summer Camp registration is happening now!

We've got July all planned out for many wonderfully wacky outdoor theatrical experiences for campers ages 7-15. A delightful thing about BCT is the friendships that are fostered between age groups (we like to call it "Big Sister/Big Brother"), and we have proof that those friendships last all the way through college and beyond.

Here's what we've got planned for summer:

JULY 8-12: RANDOM ACTS & SNEAKY SET-UPS. Last year we had two dozen kids flash-mobbing, creating "celebrities" out of the average Bellinghamster, and singing to riders on the city bus. It's fun-filled mischief that brings out the playfulness in everyone.

JULY 15-19: THE WUTCRAKER BOOT-CAMP. In preparation for The Wutcraker in December, campers get a jump on auditions for this community-wide intergenerational parody (winner of the Mayor's Arts Award). Campers will learn how to swordfight like the Rat King, rap like the Ice Gang, and dance like a Booger Flung Scary!

JULY 22-26: "SPRINKLE PARK—THE MUSICAL." Campers meet at Fairhaven Park this week with swimming suits, picnics, and imagination. We'll play tons of fun theatre games and create an original musical or a lip-sync performance to share on Friday with families in the park. Wet. Wacky. Fun!

JULY 29-August 2: THE WOZARD OF IZ. Of course you've heard of Toto... but have you heard of Dorothy's dog "Thumb Thumb?" And what about Auntie "Um," and "Professor Lost His Marbles?" And Elvis! What is Elvis doing in Oz?? A hilarious rendition on that old classic, kids' imaginations have warped this adventure into a new dimension. Parts for Middle School kids and younger.

HOW TO REGISTER: It's an old-fashioned approach, but it's indicative of the hands-on care BCT's summer camp offers your camper—simply do this:
1) click “Contact Us” and send us an email with your name and the name of your camper(s), how old they are, and what camp(s) they’re interested in attending.
2) We will send you a registration and medical release form to fill out. Please fill it out and mail it along with a check for tuition (made out to B.C.T.) to our MAILING ADDRESS: 809 Donovan Ave. Bellingham, WA 98225
3) We will send you a confirmation email
4) In early June, we will send out another email with camp details and potential car-pooling possibilities to all the families who have signed up for summer camp.

It's easy!

JUST RIGHT FOR RIGHT NOW

Just Right For Right Now

Bellingham Children’s Theatre has created intergenerational theatrical magic once again with a cast ranging in age from 9 – 92! “Just Right For Right Now” is an original play which dives into stereotypes elders have about kids, and vise versa. The script is based on a ton of questions the actors asked of one another including: “Are you really obsessed with the golf channel?” “What’s with the saggy baggy pants down to your knees?” “If you could change one thing what would it be?” “Are you afraid of dying?” This play will have audiences laughing and crying as the cast explores topics of hope, illness, divorce, bubble-gum, careers and what it is that we might all learn from one another if we just took the time to sit down and listen. Equally poignant, hilarious, & thought-provoking.Cast: Marissa Douglas (9), Leon Charbonneau (72), Peggy Hunt (92), Miska Marker (10), Callie Christante (11),
Miranda Mizen-Waite (12), Austin DuBois (10), Madison McKinley (13), Paddy Bruce (60), and Colin Gregory (10)

WHO WE ARE

“Who We Are” was a beautiful show written and performed by GIRLS INC – Bellingham Children’s Theatre’s unique acting troupe designed just for teenage girls. This powerful play was created by the girls over the course of six months, using their improvisations, poetry, writing, and ideas. Touring middle schools in Whatcom County, “Who We Are” gave voice to issues that girls face such as bullying, competition, and body image. It also celebrated girls’ emotions, friendships, and power.
